The Letter of Credit (L/C) for Export is a guarantee instrument issued by a foreign bank, on behalf of the importer, in favor of the Brazilian exporter. When the L/C matures, the exporter will receive the funds directly from the importer's bank, regardless of whether the importer fulfills its obligation. The risks of the issuing bank and the issuing bank's country can be reduced by obtaining confirmation of the L/C. BOC offers this service, in which it assumes payment to the Brazilian exporter while covering the risks of the country and the foreign bank.
