Banks are prohibited from receiving boleto payments of R$10,000 or more using cash.
As of May 28, 2018, banks are prohibited from receiving funds in cash for boleto payments of R$10,000 or more.
Resolution No. 4,648/2018 of the Central Bank of Brazil makes it public that the National Monetary Council has decided:
Prohibit Financial Institutions from receiving payment slips, equal to or greater than R$10,000, using cash resources; and
When there is evidence of an attempt to circumvent the provisions of this resolution, banks may refuse to receive payment slips with a value of less than R$10,000, using cash resources.
The new rule aims to improve controls to prevent money laundering and stimulate efficiency in the financial system.
